I was born in the historic Georgian city of Bath, England, in 1982, and spent my early childhood in the market town of Chippenham in the county of Wiltshire.

When I was four years old my family moved to Paris, France, where I started my education. I went to an American Montessori school a stone’s throw away from the cathedral of Notre-Dame and later to a Rudolf Steiner school where the emphasis was very much on the arts. This encouraged me to develop a taste for all things artistic, including calligraphy and drama. I also learnt to play the violin at a very early age and gave little concerts with my teacher Adrian and fellow-pupils.

Later I decided to study photography, and my assignments would take me round the city, pointing my camera at the lively street scenes, the buskers near the Pompidou Center, the Parisian crowds and the many architectural curiosities. This is also the time when I picked up the electric guitar and founded a band, Black Lightning, with a few friends. I became assistant to a photographer working for the magazine of the City of Versailles, and the two of us would spend days recording on camera all the official events taking place in the superb locations round the town, the 17th century palace, the ornamental gardens or the gilded ceremony rooms at the town hall.

By then, though, I increasingly felt the need to put sound and picture together and my next step was to get into a cinema school in Paris to study for a Bachelor’s Degree in Sound Design; I had enthusiastic and inspirational teachers, and from then on there was no turning back, I knew what I wanted my future career to be. It was also at that time that I studied the history of music, going to concerts of contemporary music of Dutilleux, Ligeti or Penderecki and listening to many film scores by Bernard Hermann, Don Davis, Christopher Young, Danny Elfman and other famous film composers.

I soon decided to branch out into cinema post-production, enrolling in a degree course in film studies at the University of Paris 8, which made me look at the art and industry of film making from different points of view. I discovered Polish filmmakers and the legal background of making films. It had been a favorite dream of mine to go to the place where so many of the films I loved were being produced, so when the opportunity of an exchange with a University in Southern California presented itself, I knew it would be a defining moment in my life.

Arriving at CSU Long Beach in mid January 2010 was indeed a bold step and an exhilarating experience. I found everything I longed for: a thriving university community, the proximity to the largest film making hub in the world, and most of all, a team of dedicated professionals who could teach me what I needed to know. And a sunny clime into the bargain! I worked on many projects, recording, mixing and editing short films, and perfected my knowledge of the techniques used in post-production. I was fortunate enough to be able to interview film composer Christopher Young on one of my assignments, and I spent a few months as an intern at Danetracks, a major sound postproduction firm (The Matrix), which gave me a valuable insight into the profession. I saw the Raven, Cristiada and Twilight being produced there in the summer of 2011 and I am honored to have worked with such a great crowd of people.
